Manuscript Review Service

Posted by Steven Bryant On February - 7 - 2009

After writing my first paper, I sought out the feedback from an expert using the late Tom Van Flandern’s Manuscript Review Service.  Based on my positive experience obtaining feedback and guidance – and based on the number of people who have asked me to look at their works – I am offering a similar manuscript review service.    Our area of expertise is Relativity.  Of course, we work with a number of expert reviewers with varied scientific backgrounds and may be able to provide feedback on works in other areas of Physics, Mathematical Physics, and Astronomy.

Benefits & Service Offering

  • High-level or detailed manuscript (papers and book) reviews
  • Identification of points of interest, strengths, weaknesses, and/or obvious flaws
  • Publication advice

High-Level reviews offer the fastest turn-around time and will offer general advice on the overall work.  Detailed reviews offer a fine-grained review that provides advice and feedback; sometimes with comments on each page or paragraph, as determined by the reviewer.  Detailed reviews may be more appropriate for the first time author, or the author presenting leading edge or controversial material.  Both types of reviews provide the author with recommendations to improve the manuscript.

Reviews are typically complete in 30-45 days from date of manuscript review acceptance.  (Note: Long manuscripts and books may require additional time).  Please inquire about our expedited service (e.g., 15-30 days)  if you require a faster turn around.

Rates & Payment Terms

  • Basic Review: $0.10 per word ($99 minimum)
  • Detailed Review: $0.20 per word ($199 minimum)
  • Expedited “Basic Review”: $0.20 per word ($199 minimum)

We compute the word count by opening the file in Microsoft Word and pressing the word count button.  Payment should be made using PayPal after the manuscript has been accepted by our service and is required before the review can begin.

Confidentiality

The assigned editor from RelativityChallenge.com and the selected reviewer, who is working on behalf of RelativityChallenge.com will be the only people who view your manuscript.  We treat each submission as confidential.  However, we will not sign non-disclosure statements.  In this regard, we are no different than the many publishers who will eventually review your work.

Contact and Submissions

Your manuscript must be in English and in a machine editable form so that we can enter our comments directly into your manuscript.  The preferred format is Microsoft Word format (.doc).  Please do not submit PDFs of PostScript files as they are harder for our reviewers to embed their feedback.  Handwritten documents are not accepted.

At our discretion, we may decline to review your manuscript and return your review fees.  The main reasons for this would be that we were unable to locate a qualified reviewer for your manuscript.

Mail your questions and submissions to Email@RelativityChallenge.com.
